Showing Up For Yourself

2025 has been about scaling back, and staying focused. It’s been a year of shifting habits, showing up differently, and feeling more connected to myself and my surroundings.

One of the biggest game changers for me has been movement.

Living in Santa Barbara, I was surrounded by fantastic hiking trails, took long beach walks, and worked out at an incredible pilates studio. When we moved to Santa Ynez, my routines all changed. Since then, I’ve tried all sorts of group classes, got a Peloton (that was fun for a minute) but nothing ever really stuck. I realized it wasn’t the classes or the bike or my environment, it was ME, I was stuck. Not just physically, but mentally and spiritually as well.

For months, I kept seeing Melissa Wood Tepperberg pop up in my social feed. I’d heard of her before, but online classes had never worked for me. Still, the universe kept nudging. So one day I finally signed up. It was only five dollars for the first month, then fifteen after that. That is cheaper than a cocktail (and if I am being honest, a sandwich these days) and it is for the WHOLE month of unlimited classes. I figured…why the hell not?

That moment was my first real step toward lasting change.

After dabbling for 6 or 7 months with her classes (which are amazing) I made the decision to commit to taking one class every single day in 2025. I feel strong, toned, aligned, motivated, and determined to get to January 2026 to crush my goal!

Every single day, I make the choice to move. How lucky am I? Even when I’m tired, overwhelmed, or not feeling 100%…and trust me, there have been a LOT of those days…Some days if I am short on time it’s a 5 minute abs class, some days it’s a fifteen minute booty class. I have been known to take a standing arms class behind the bar at the tasting room in a dress. BUT, I show up for myself because I know how good I’ll feel afterwards.

Health is a mental game, but let’s be real, we all have time. If you think you don’t, check how long you scroll social media or watch a tv show. We make the time for the things that matter. To me, movement matters.

Because showing up for yourself, even for ten minutes, really can change everything.
